About Ruth's Chris:
Ruth's Chris Steak House is a family of 98 fine dining restaurants
that originated in New Orleans and is now found in 80 cities throughout
the United States and in four foreign countries and one U.S. territory.
Insistence on serving the best U.S.D.A. Prime beef and other
premium cuts has earned Ruth's Chris a reputation as "The Home of Serious
Steaks."
|
Founded:
May 1965 in New Orleans by Ruth Fertel. Please see the "History"
section for a detailed account.
The original Ruth's Chris Steak House was located at 711 North Broad
Street in New Orleans, Louisiana.

|
Specialty:
Steak. Richly marbled U.S.D.A. Prime steak,
the top 2% of beef in America from the Corn-fed in the Midwest is aged
to Ruth's exact specification and served SIZZLING on hot china
plates. Ruth's Chris' beef is never frozen, so it's exceptionally tender
and flavorful. Portions are large - 12 to 22 ounces - because
Ruth discovered a thicker cut of meat, cooked extremely hot, retains
its juices better. Serving your steak SIZZLING, keeps
it hot, juicy and delicious, until the very last bite.

|
Menu:
In addition to the most popular steaks, Ruth's Chris also
offers Live Maine Lobster, Ruth's own Cajun Shrimp, Salmon Filet, Lamb
and Veal Chops and a Catch of the Day. Fresh cooked vegatables, including
seven styles of potatoes, compliment the menu. Our famus homemade salad
dressings and desserts remind you that you can only be at Ruth's Chris.

| Decór:
Each Ruth's Chris Steak House is appointed in keeping with
local tastes and preferences. Each is an individual expression. What
we all have in common is a relaxed, informal atmosphere where diners
are encouraged to linger as long as they like.
Local architect Dick Clark designed the elegant new location
where Ruth's Chris moved downtown in 1999. Linda Andrews accomplished
the interior design in cooperation with Suzie Dunn at Dick Clark Architecture.
The new location has received many awards for its interior
design, architecture and atmosphere.
"Ruth's Chris Transformed what was once the menswear
section (of the old Scarbroughs Department Store) into one of the
most elegant restaurants in Texas.
-Austin American-Statesman, February 1999
"The atmosphere (a giant step up from the old location
on Guadalupe Street) is one of the most oustanding in the region.
In fact, the sophisticated art deco interior is as impressive as some
of the best restaurants in Dallas and Houston. It's definitely dining
in style."
--Dale Rice, Austin American-Statesman Restaurant Critic,
May 1999
